PROGRAMME FOR 2017

Unless otherwise stated all meetings are held in the lower hall of the village centre at 7.30  on the second Wednesday of the month

 

 11 January  Matthew Beresford of MBarchaeology– Roman Southwell- a talk on the ongoing work at Southwell which explores the Roman landscape of the town and surrounding region

8 February            Paul Hale “Ramblings of a Rector Chori: a Cathedral Organist looks back over his                                        Forty  year Career in Cathedral Music”

8 March                 A.G.M. : Cheese, Wine and Quiz

12 April                 Visit to Nottinghamshire Archives  2.30 – 4.00 p.m. (No meeting in Village Centre)

10 May                  Tom Huggon – Our Lord Lieutenant and his Deputies Past and Present, their Roles                                     and  Duties

31 May                  Visit to the National Memorial Arboretum

14 June                John Taylor – The Nine Dukes of Portland: The Fascinating History of the Portland                                       Peerage and Welbeck Abbey

12 July                 Summer Social (venue depends on weather)

13 September –  Judith Mills, Research Fellow, Dept. of History, University of Nottingham –                                                    Nottingham’s Historic Green Spaces

11 October          Richard Bowler – Women in the Great War

8  November       Richard Gaunt – Pentrich 1817

13 December      Christmas Lunch (venue to be decided)
